ABOUT ÅSKA STUDIOS

Åska Studios was created in 2018 by Stockholm based artist Anna Dormidontova.

"At 38 years old, I have called Sweden home for the past eight years. Though I have had an affinity for drawing since my school days, I pursued a professional career in photography and digital design prior to my move to Sweden.

It wasn't until 2018 that I discovered the captivating world of liquid ink technique, and I immediately fell in love with it. Using liquid materials has allowed me to communicate my ideas and impressions, and to create artworks that are an authentic representation of both myself and my unique vision".

Capturing elusive things through the fluidity of liquid ink

As an artist, I am deeply inspired by the intangible aspects of nature that are often felt rather than seen - the way the wind feels on your skin, the mist that obscures your vision, the light that illuminates the world around us, and the air we breathe.

Using these aspects of nature as a starting point, I create abstract paintings that aim to evoke different emotions, feelings, and impressions. My artistic practice is focused on capturing elusive things through the fluidity of liquid ink, creating images that are both evocative and open to interpretation.

My artistic process is one of exploration and experimentation. I allow the ink to flow and move, responding to its movement and texture in a way that is both spontaneous and intentional. Through this process, I am able to create paintings that are both expressive and evocative, capturing the essence of our inner world in a way that is both visceral and emotional.

Each piece is a starting point, an invitation for viewers to dive inside and explore their own memories and associations, to connect with the work on a deeper emotional level.
